From the age of six months Sujeet has been travelling the world. Born of parents from Kenya and Mauritius he started life in Ireland and was raised in Canada. He spent much of his childhood traveling from Canada through Europe to Africa.
It was in Paris in the late eighties that he pursued his studies in Fashion Design at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and has never looked back. Sujeet started working in the ateliers of Dior and Ungaro moving to senior design positions at Balenciaga, The Hudson’s Bay Company, Etam and Jacob to name a few.
With a rare perspective, Sujeet provides hands-on experience from every aspect of the product development and merchandising chain. An excellent aesthetic and seasoned planning skills enable him to lead any design project from concept to fruition.
Sujeet has become an advocate of workers rights in the third world since he spoke out, about the conditions of the Bangladeshi workers, six months before the Rana Plaza collapse. His advocacy continues to grow as he learns, writes and speaks about the subject, which will be a part of his life’s work. Therefore, he and Carbon Rain Inc. will only engage in projects with companies that have initiatives in supply chain transparency and workers rights. Design is his passion but cannot be at the expense of the global garment worker.
He welcomes all sustainable and ethical designers, entrepreneurs and NGO’s to contact him if he can be of assistance to their projects. He believes to change the world it must be with radical collaboration.
